Early Days
Diners Club International was the first card to enter Saudi Arabian
market way back in 1975. The program was first managed the Blue
Card Company. In the year 1994, the company became a wholly owned
subsidiary of one of the leading energy providers in the Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia: A. K. Bakri Mohammed Saleh & Sons Holding Company
Limited, Jeddah. The operating name of company was changed to The
Card Company. This company was registered under the Bahrain Monetary

The First Supper
When it came time to pay the bill after a business
meal at a New York restaurant in 1949, Frank McNamara discovered
that he had misplaced his wallet. He managed to resolve the situation,
but then resolved never to face this embarrassment again.
Cash Has Competition
Working with his business partner, Ralph Schneider,
Frank McNamara created Diners Club and the rest is now history.
So, in 1950 Diners Club created a brand new industry and heralded
the era of plastic money.
More People, More Cities, Multi-use
In 1951, Diners Club card members increases to
20,000 and is accepted in many major U.S. cities. The card is accepted
in more restaurants, hotels, car rentals, florists etc.
Wider Network
In 1952, the Diners Club Card was accepted at
thousands of merchant outlets. Diners Club brand soon became a cultural
icon. Diners Club also introduced franchises in Canada, France and
Cuba. Cardmembers and merchants grew almost exponentially as Diners
Club pioneered many of the innovations that are now widespread in
the credit
card industry.
Growing Network
In 1955, the Diners Club card is now accepted
in most of the countries in Europe, Middle East, Caribbean, South
America and boasts of an exclusive membership of 200,000.
Great Gift
In 1956, Diners Club comes up with the idea of
Great Gift Certificate for its cardmembers.
Travel Insurance
1958, Diners Club offers travel insurance.
The Movie & the Game
In 1962, Hollywood released a movie by the name
"The Man From The Diners Club"
followed by the creation of a board game called "The Diners
Club Game" by the Ideal Toy Corporation.
First Corporate Card
In 1970s, Diners Club sharpened its focus on the
niche market of business travelers by introducing the first corporate
charge card. Currently, more than 70% of the Fortune 500 companies
are members of Diners Club card.
Continue to widen
Today, with more than eight million affluent,
frequent traveler cardmembers worldwide, Diners Club continue to

insightful products and responsive services specifically designed
for customers and merchant establishments.
